A Week of Connection, Collaboration and Early-Stage Momentum at ACMD
Mayo Clinic Platform Showcase: Global Insight, Local Application

ACMD welcomed leaders from the Mayo Clinic Platform (MCP) for the inaugural two-day Health AI showcase focused on one central idea: innovation happens everywhere, but impact depends on connection.

With perspectives from global and Australian leaders including St Vincent’s Health Australia CEO, Chris Blake, Equal Innovation founder, Nish Acharya and MCP’s Steve Bethke, discussions centred on how startups can better connect data, expertise and ecosystems to improve patient outcomes at scale.

The message was clear: while institutions like Mayo Clinic see over a million patients each year, the real opportunity lies in extending those learnings globally, through collaboration.

At ACMD, that ambition aligns closely with our purpose: bringing clinicians, engineers, researchers and industry together in a living laboratory environment to translate ideas into real-world healthcare solutions. Thank you to Shanthini Naidoo and St Vincent’s Foundation Victoria for facilitating the connection through their relationship with Equal Innovation.

MedTech Ignite: Early-Stage Ideas, Real Momentum

Later in the week, that focus on connection shifted to early-stage momentum, as ACMD partnered with the Medical Technology Association of Australia to host MedTech Ignite.

The event brought together founders, clinicians, engineers and industry for a high-energy pitch challenge designed to give emerging ideas visibility, support and critical feedback at the stage it matters most.

Congratulations to Pulsatile Innovations for taking out the top prize with Pulse Tile, alongside standout finalists and Spark Session presenters who put forward bold, practical solutions to real-world healthcare challenges.

Supported by industry partners Hydrix and Neo-Bionica, the night reinforced the importance of creating environments where innovation is not only developed, but championed.

From Global Perspective to Local Action

Across both events, a consistent theme emerged: progress in healthcare depends on the strength of the connections we build.

From global platforms sharing data-driven insights, to early-stage founders testing ideas in front of experienced operators, ACMD continues to bring the right people together – at the right time – to help ideas move faster toward implementation.

Because when the right people, insights and environments come together, innovation doesn’t just progress, it accelerates toward real-world impact.
